December 1, First Thursday Open Studio

 clay@3: Kathy Mommsen
For the Month of November I have been altering and drawing from dancer, Penelope Freeh.  Penny has just completed choreographing and dancing in a production called Test Pilot Dance Opera .  It is the untold story of the Wright brothers’ sister.  I was able to see the production at O’Shaughnessy Theater.  I have 4 large vessels that are in process that you can see at the studio on Thursday. It is hard to believe that it is already the first Thursday in December this week.   Mark you calendar for Thursday, February 2.  I will have my final show form my Emotion Expression Vessels in my studio.  I will keep you updated on my blog. http://kathymommsen.com/working-from-a-model/november-29-dipped-into-white-maiolica/

     Kathy is in Boston…..

I flew into Boston last night to see the Della Robbia show at the MFA.  I decided to write my newsletter before I was off on the town.  The first sign that things were a little strange was a sign outside the bathroom..”use as little water as possible…there is a water issue outside the building”.   I went to breakfast and this was outside my building.   After I ate, we were asked to evacuate the building.  They are saying there is a broken main, but there is also a strange smell.   I was right across from the Tuft Medical Center so I was able to finish this in the Medical Center.  I think everyone from the Boston Fire Department is here.   I will keep you updated.
I am going to check out the Hubway, which is the bike system through Boston.
Here is information about the Della Robbia show.  I will post information on my blog about the show.

Since I am out of town, my husband Tony is going to be available for First Thursday.  Stop and say “Hi” to Tony.  I trained him all in on the Square, so you can even buy artwork from him.  Have a great December.  I will be back in the Studio on Monday, December 5th.

November 1, Penelope Models with her "Flight" theme

Penny modeled while dancing with her new choreography on flight that she created for an opera call Test Pilot Opera. The opera is based on the Wright Brothers and their sister.  Penny posed in still positions and she modeled using a dance routine about flight.  She just kept repeating the routine with stop and start action so that we could capture this motion.  This was wonderful to watch, but this will take me a while to incorporate into my work.img_0446
